Meet Jim Sbarra, Magnet 360’s New Managing Director and Vice President of Sales

By Bill Galfano September 12, 2016

It’s no secret that Magnet 360, a Mindtree company, has experienced tremendous growth recently. We attribute this success to our practice of finding the right people, and putting them in the right seats within our organization. The latest seat we’ve filled is a dual-role position: Managing Director of our east office as well as Vice President of Sales for the east region. For this seat, we are excited to welcome Jim Sbarra to the Magnet 360 team. Jim is a veteran in the technology industry and sales leadership. Learn a little bit more about our newest Rockstar:

Q: Can you tell us a little about your background?
Jim: Between IBM, Oracle, and Salesforce, I have 29 years of cumulative experience in information technology sales/sales leadership. I’ve sold to and managed teams in New York, Boston, East Coast and across the U.S. I’ve worked with accounts ranging in size from startup to Global Fortune 500 in a variety of industries including financial services, manufacturing, retail, professional services, media and telecommunications, higher education and healthcare. From a products perspective, I have experience with database, middleware, BI, portal, engineered system as well as ERP, supply chain, HR and CRM applications, both on-prem and cloud.

Q: Having worked at Salesforce, how do you see yourself applying that extensive knowledge and network to our business?
Jim: I was fortunate enough to manage quite a few people while I was there, so my performance and reputation at Salesforce is definitely an asset. Besides making a significant amount of connections, my time there also gave me a deep understanding of their thought process and operations. I think all of this will be helpful in aligning our thinking and further strengthening the relationship between our two organizations.

Q: What was your first impression of Magnet 360?
Jim: When I first met Magnet 360, I had only been working at Salesforce for four days. We were having a management kickoff meeting in Las Vegas, and that’s when I was introduced to Tina Sherman along with some of the rest of Magnet 360’s leadership. We had a great time, and really just hit it off from day one. My first impression was that it seemed like a really cool place with some great leaders, an unbelievable culture and great values.

Q: What excites you most about joining the Magnet 360 team, and taking the reins of the east office as a sales leader?
Jim: What I’ve noticed from Magnet 360 so far is spectacular management, overall transparency, and everyone collaborating and striving to do the very best for the customer. Oh, and fun! As a company we do fun things. So there is a lot about the company that is appealing. As far as the east office goes, our whole team there has enormous potential for growth; it’s one of the hottest markets in the U.S. But that growth is only enabled by the individual efforts that drive it. Being a sales leader, one of the most rewarding experiences for me is helping individuals achieve their performance goals, and being able to promote them to the next level in their career. I enjoy helping people learn and grow, and that’s why I’m truly looking forward to being able to lead this amazing team.

Q: Being able to see the innovation at Salesforce firsthand, what are you most excited about in terms of Magnet 360’s future?
Jim: Salesforce is always on the edge of expanding their reach and footprint, whether it’s the internet of things, artificial intelligence, or their industry-specific focus and verticalization. Everything is so transformative, and all of it offers us a tremendous opportunity for growth. With the expertise of Magnet 360’s delivery team enabling us to keep up with what they introduce, there’s a great growth path in front of us.

Q: Anything else to add?
Jim: I’m genuinely excited to be in a position where I have the opportunity to make such a large, positive impact and contribute to the growth of Magnet 360. We’re a young, talented company with an unlimited ceiling; I’m honored to be a part of it.
